In case you thought otherwise, life at sea in the fishing game is no easy matter. I’ve spent somewhere in the region of 2 years worth of my life onboard Japanese, Chinese and Korean reefer vessels- the freezer boats that bring tuna and other fish back to shore from the fishing boats that remain out at sea.
It can be interesting, it can be bleak, it’s usually lonely, but it can be rewarding. I don’t have pictures of the Indonesian and Phillipino sailors I had to rescue from being abused on a boat and take back to shore, I don’t have photos of some of the horrible conditions I’ve endured or the young guys I encountered who found themselves stuck out there for years in some cases.
But it’s been an adventure that’s a large part of who I am today.
Maybe you can get a feel for the experience from the pictures in the gallery>>
